OctoberGuys, I’m trying to do a bit of a poster to promote the CNI and I need some photos. I have a cool Alpine one (thanks Marcus) a need a couple of rock climbing / ice climbing / bouldering photo’s now – as dramatic as you have, don’t be shy handing ones over of yourselves. If you can get them to me this week the poster will apear in shops and the climbing wall along with NZAC fliers next week. Woooo, it’s only taken 6 weeks oops.
I’ll get around to setting up the Flickr account this week – any offers for someone to manage it?? Otherwise I’ll just make it openn access for any member to enter there own photo’s and clips (may be easier option.
Had a great weekend down at Whanganui bay, got to use my portable bbq in anger for the first time for dinner and breakfast, other features were cheap wine, fire on the beach, social blah blah, amazing scenery and weather ………. and oh yeah some rather amazing trad’ (sorry, still forget to speak in kiwi – natural pro) and sports routes and the usual stunning NZ scenery. Shame not more people could make it, you really missed out it was an amazing weekend. I know some were trying to get the last of the snow though.
Thinking of changing the next meet from secret valley to somewhere a little further affield… Suggestions……..
If anyone knows who owns Froggat I think it would be worth while sending a thanks from the CNI for re mettling the road (and slap anyone who spins their wheels in it).
Anyone free for a climb 3:30 this afternoon???? or this evening Ashie 0210459915
oh and we had a wee coffee film and beer night – thank &*&%%$# the company was good, it was a full on NZ ‘B’ movie - save the film for DVD ;-). We’re trying to maye the meets twice a month to create some momentum and make it a more regular social thing rather than a pain in the neck after thought.

SEPTEMBER CLUB NIGHT |
|
| First off – NICE ONE JACK. Thanks for sorting out the new venue, the food and beers are excellent, I can see why it’s your local. Hopefully the turnout and membership will grow. | |
| Stephen Burrows to approach Martin Owen, Stephen King and Cliff Ellery to produce a joint article about activities in the CNI for the NZAC yearbook – possibly preceded or including some light hearted banter in relation to on line “scraps” between the three.Suggest including some considerations over how NZAC can work with land owners nationally to improve access rights. |
Stephen |
| The club now has a drill to assist with members in Bolting routes c/w drill bits and spare battery. It’s been decided that:Dennis Sanders will be the contact for hiring the drill as with all club gear. A $200 deposit is required by all users to help ensure the drill is looked after and returned quickly. The user should have been on a bolting course and demonstrate that it is to be used for “common good” of CNI climbers. (Include grade 19′ not just grade 25 projects) |
Dennis |
| It is suggested that an article is produced for Climber magazine touching on bolting ethics, the re-bolting fund, new routes sources and types of bolt etc. Again Cliff, Stephen and Martin would be the guys to approach. |
Stephen |
| The question of where the CNI bolts have gone from the WEL grant was raised – Stephen to approach Cliff Ellery, hopefully he’s rescued them from the depths of Kevin B’s garage. |
Stephen |
| Produce CNI poster |
Mark |
| Request NZAC posters from Head office for club advertising and bolting course |

Jack |
| Initially set up blog and photo site for CNI, possibly develop later as a web site |
Mark |
| The promotion off the club and the meeting place (Londoner) to continue. Having a single meeting place in a good pub should be more attractive to new members. Discuss potential for expanding to week 2 & 4 in future |
|
| To prevent loads of cars turning up at venues car pooling to be promoted with Bivouacs Max agreeing to using the shop as a meeting point where convenient for climbing trips. |
Max |
| E-mail to NZAC regarding the differing standards between the Alpine and bolting course regarding membership requirements |
Dennis. |
| For the weekly climbing meets list it’s proposed to have a fortnightly programme starting first week of daylight saving and then the reverse order after daylight saving. The same list can be expanded to a weekly programme as new placed are suggested |
