Alpine Club Committee Meeting CNI 26-3-08
Londoner Tavern 19.00 hrs Present: Kevin Hammond, Stephen Burrows, Marcus Bai
- Correspondence: NZ Post – Invoice for $115 for PO Box. It was discussed that we are receiving little in the way of correspondence and Marcus is happy to have mail sent to his address. A check of the clubs constitution is to be carried out regarding this and an extension will be sort from NZ post to allow for AGM.
- Financial: Marcus showed the section balance to be $.
- Marcus presented the new Snow Craft poster that he has created and will forward for distribution.
- Kevin stated that a Snow Craft meeting was held with Kevin Hammond, Edward and Marcus Bai in attendance. They have developed a new program for this year with an emphasis on passing knowledge onto the Club. Four courses are planned for the year.
- Kevin Hammond has spoken to Chris Munroe about combining with Auckland instructor training on 5th/6th July. Four to six instructors are planned to attend from CNI section.
- Kevin Hammond & Jack Magill are both attending leadership training on Egmont in April.
- Kevin Hammond and one more from CNI will be attending “Avalanche One” training, which will take one week on Ruapehu in June. This is being paid for by MSC.
- Banff film festival is only six weeks away.
- The section AGM has been planned to take place at the May meeting. Notice will be sent out by mail.
- Richard Knott has advised that he will not be able to attend the CCM this year so Stephen Burrows will attend instead. Accommodation Committee and youth rates are topic.
- Colin from Trek n Travel will be guest speaker at club night on 9th April, McMeeken centre.
- Bivouac are planned to talk July.
- Kevin Hammond has a planned club trip to Table Top Mountain in May/June.
- Barry Smith wishes to relinquish his position of Hut Warden. He advises that the hut was recently inspected by a Park Ranger and advises that it requires mattresses replaced, sink drain be repaired and some external repairs be carried out before winter.
- CNI has been approached to rebolt some existing routes at Sheridan and Bailey crags. $ has been offered to do this.
- Marcus had volunteered to assist with the Sir ED Tribute climbs but has since found he has other commitments. Stephen Burrows to contact organizer.
